What Happened To Foxy Brown? By Theo The Philosopher

13 Jun 2021 0 comments

On December 8, 2005, Brown announced she had experienced severe and explosive hearing disorder in both ears and she had not heard another person's voice in six months.

Brown held a press conference to announce that her hearing had deteriorated so much, she even needed someone by her side to thump out beats on her shoulder when she was recording in the studio.

The rapper was struck  from sudden and severe sensorineural hearing loss. It's a very rare condition,  that not too many people have, (only 1 in 10,000), it is known that the condition is mainly caused by a viral infection. According to some reports, Foxy made the condition worsen and choose the wrong path after trying to hide the hearing loss in hopes that medication could help restore her hearing. Foxy also said that she had been deaf for four months without speaking out in order not to jeopardize her career.

On the talk show hosted by comedian Mo’Nique, Foxy said: “It was completely gone, overnight. They don’t even know the reason. I actually have the most effective surgeon in the world who specializes in ear problems and operations and surgeries. Then on a  Wednesday night [in 2005], I was out shooting the cover of XXL with Jay-Z, Kanye West, and LeBron, and on the Thursday morning I woke up and couldn’t hear anything. I was completely deaf.

The condition has also hurt her recording sessions. According to Foxy, Jay-Z said her new stuff was “ridiculously loud” and that it didn’t sound “normal.” After others in the studio claimed “This is crazy loud,” Foxy asked them to turn it up. However, they couldn’t turn it up any louder.

She was always optimistic when she said: “I just knew that God had got me then. Because I kept running and dodging him and he kept giving me signs and little warnings, and they say God will get you first in private and if he doesn’t get you then, then he’ll get you in public.”

Foxy was working that time on the album called ''Black Roses'' which she put aside during this period of time. The good news is, she eventually got her hearing back in 2006.

Foxy Brown Career After 2006

Brown signed to Koch Records in August 2007. Brooklyn's Don Diva was released as a street album on May 13, 2008. It contains two previously unreleased songs from her shelved album Ill Na Na 2: The Fever. The album peaked at No. 83 on the Billboard 200 chart, No. 8 on the Independent Albums chart, and No. 5 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

In 2012, Brown released the diss track "Massacre", a response to Lil' Kim's "Black Friday".

On August 14, 2012, Foxy Brown comes into view as a special guest on Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday Tour in New York City. Rapper AZ indicates indirectly that she is working on a new project with Minaj. In August 2018, Brown shows up for the first official guest appearance since 2009 on "Coco Chanel" from Nicki Minaj's fourth studio album Queen.

According to media sources, Brown now is back to work on her upcoming fourth studio album.
