R.I.E.P Fred The Godson - A tribute to the wordsmith from the BK - By Theo The Philosopher
One Stop Hip Hop UK would like to pay tribute to a true talent that will surely be missed by all real hip hop fans who appreciate craft, skills, and lyrics. R.I.E.P Fred The Godson, the Bronx born rapper who blessed the underground scene with his undoubted ability to play with and use words quite like no other artist I have heard listening to lyrical hip hop for over 30 years now.
Whiles Fred may not have racked up the numbers like a lot of the mumbling inferior artists you may hear daily on mainstream radio, his talents and skills propelled him into the hearts of hip hop fans who really appreciate the craft and the art form of rapping. When it came to punchlines and the ability to play with words, Fred most definitely created his own lane, which is no mean feat in its self when you consider there is not a lot that has not been seen, heard, or done before when you've been listening to hip hop as long as I have.
Looking over Fred's career, whiles it may not of hit the heights like some of the more commercial artists out there, Fred can look down in pride on his accomplishments and on the mark he left on the game. And The Godson sure did leave his mark on us, and, it was shown by all the tributes that came pouring through when he sadly passed, from hip hop fans all over the world to some of the most seasoned legends in the game. Something that I'm sure must fill Fred The Godson, looking down on us, and his family with pride.
At close eximination Fred The Godson, born Frederick Thomas, was a true talent who took the art of spitting and puchlines on to a different lane with a clever use of words that really made him standout. Fred was one of a select few artists who's punlines may even go over your head first time listening, or, could drop them more blatent in your face, yet equally as dope.
"Wait till I drop like contact solution, get it eyedrop"
If you go on a platform like YouTube now, you'll be able to see that the Godson really put that work in with countless pieces of matirial and content available to view. Along with all the mixtapes and solo projects, that The Bonx legend put out, are a number of dope features with legends like Jadakiss, Jim Jones, Styles P, and, Joell Ortiz, who he put out whole mixtape with. Which is smoking hot by the way.

All in all the man, the father, and the rapper achieved a lot during his time on the planet and was able to use his talents to leave a mark in the world of hip hop before he left us, a mark I'm sure he's proud of.
When anybody passes away it will always cause sadness to somebody. Whiles, it's sad that Fred leaves a wife and family behind, in terms of his music career, he leaves a space in the game that will be hard if not impossible to fill.
Rest in peace Fred The Godson!
