Ghostface Killah - Career & Achievements Of The Wu-Tang Legend

Ghostface Killah, born Dennis Coles on May 9, 1970, in Staten Island, New York, is a legendary rapper and a hard bodied lyricist. He burst onto the scene as the masked  member of the Wu-Tang Clan, one of the most successful and influential hip-hop groups of all time. Ghostface Killah's hardcore style was instantly noticeable amongst the 9 member crew. But the groups legendary 1st album was just an introduction to the artist that would become a hip-hop legend.

ENTER THE WU-TANG 36 CHAMBERS

The group's debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), was released in 1993 and is now considered one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. The group went on to release seven more studio albums, all of which achieved critical and commercial success. Wu-Tang Clan fans who followed the group from the beginning would have seen Ghostface developing into a top tier well rounded MC.   It was his work on the Raekwon ‘Only Built For Cuban Lynx' album is when the world got to see more of Ghostface Killah’s (aka Tony Starks) charismatic personality and deeper layers to his rap style.

SOLO CAREER

His debut solo album, Ironman, was released in 1996 and was a critical and commercial success and was a piece of work the catapulted Ghostface Killah's status as a solo artist. Ironman goes down as a classic more 25 years since its release and is rated by some as his best body of work to date. He followed it up in 2000 with Supreme Clientele, which is now considered one of the best Wu-Tang Clan solo albums and is a record that some say helped bring back the old school Wu-Tang sound and feel back that had been missing for a while at the time. 

BOND WITH RAEKWON

Ghostface Killah has developed a strong bond with Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon, with the two often collaborating on music with a bond so tight some have asked if they are blood relatives, which is opposite to the truth. The two actually come from rival sections of Staten Island with the two bosses bringing a calm to what can be a violent rivalry.

THE THEODORE UNIT

Ghostface Killah has also formed his own group, Theodore Unit, with members such as Trife Tha God who you'll find featuring on some of Ghostface's  later solo albums, and who is a nice rapper in his own right.

In a career spanning over two decades, Ghostface Killah has become one of hip-hop's most celebrated storytellers and a fans favorite. Whiles being a solid member of the Wu-Tang Clan know for drooping hard bodied darts over the years Ghost as also featured with the likes of Baby Face, and Mary J Blige and made cross over classics demonstrating his all-round ability as a MC.

Dennis Coles, better now as Ghostface Killah is an undoubted legend of the game, a member of one of hip hop's all-time great groups who has cemented his position as one of hip-hop's all-time great rappers and charismatic personalities.
